“Nature and Nurture: How Our Genome Knows What's Going On In Our Lives”

Both our nature, the information contained in our DNA, and the way we’re nurtured through our lives, shape our perception, our actions, and our emotions. UCSD Assistant Professor Dr. Brenda Bloodgood will describe her research on the dialog between our genes and behavior --  a dialog that's essential for brain function --  and what happens when that dialog goes awry.

Dr. Bloodgood is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Biological Science, Section of Neurobiology Section at UCSD. She was a postdoctoral fellow and received her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Harvard Medical School, and completed her BS in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience at UCSD. She received the Charles A. King Trust and Helen Hay Whitney Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, a L’Oreal for Women in Science Fellowship, the Dorsett L. Spurgeon Research Award, and the Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award.
