This will be an in-person as well as an online-streaming Assembly. Our venue is located at the Bankers Hill Club House at 3030 Front St, San Diego, CA 92103. Online streaming will happen over Zoom. The program starts at 11:00 am. Like always, SASD will follow the county guidelines for COVID safety, at a minimum.

The Curious Role of Bubbles in our Lives

Bubbles are everywhere, from champagne to the seashore. They make us laugh and they are a joy to behold. All the musical qualities of water, from the babbling brook to the crashing wave, are the birth songs of bubbles. However, they have a more serious side. Bubbles from whitecaps on wind-driven seas connect the ocean to the atmosphere and create clouds and ice. They carry carbon dioxide into the ocean and they change the brightness of the planet itself. Grant Deane, Research Oceanographer at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, will talk about the role of ocean bubbles on weather and climate and discuss how bubbles bursting from glacier ice might help us better understand sea level rise.

Sunday Assembly San Diego is an inclusive non-religious community that meets monthly to hear inspirational talks, connect for service projects, sing songs and generally celebrate life. Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

We are located at the Bankers Hill Club, which features an accessible facility, including accessible parking spots and bathrooms.
