Julie Thomas, long-standing but recently-retired (congrats!) Principal Investigator for the Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP) at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, will share with us essential information about our shoreline, including how baseline and real-time measurements along our shoreline are made, measurements that indicate the threatened areas during high tides and energetic waves. She'll also address the commercial transportation at the Port of Long Beach, explaining the on-going efforts for safe environmental and economic improvements in the navigational waters offshore Southern California.

We meet at wheelchair-accessible Bankers Hill Clubhouse at 3030 Front St. Note that this segment of Front Street is accessed from 1st Street and W Palm Avenue (near the bridge). The clubhouse is the building at the summit of a gently sloping parking lot.

Childcare is free for children 1.5 years and up. Stay afterward for coffee and snacks.
